Chevys are known for the ruggedness and aggressive style. Nothing beats a Chevy truck in towing capacity or just for the sheer joy of it.
William “Billy” Durant and Louis Chevrolet began selling Chevrolet cars in 1911. Formerly Billy was head of General Motors, a company he founded in 1908 but had been forced out by the company’s bankers. Billy decided to take matters into his own hands and use his new Chevrolet models to buy out stock of GM to regain control. By 1916 he owned 54.5% of the stock, he waltzed into the building of GM and declared himself president.
Chevrolet began producing trucks in 1918 with the 490 light delivery chassis cowl sold at $1,000 and the one-ton Model T “Ton” truck that sold for $1,245. The truck buyer had to purchase separate bodies and cabs from an outside independent body company.
The 1927 Superior Model 1-ton utility express was the first truck Chevrolet offered with a factory cab. The base truck sold for $495, the cab was $115.
Chevrolet set a new standard for power when it introduced the industry’s first overhead valve 6-cyclinder engine in 1929. It was a 194 cubic inch, 46 horsepower “cast iron wonder” engine.
The Independence Series of 1931 Chevrolet trucks were important for it was the first year for a factory built pickup and the 1-1/2 ton utility trucks. There were four commercial bodies: pickup, panel, sedan delivery and canopy.
In 1934 was the first time that trucks had a unique appearance, no longer did they share front end sheet metal with cars. The frames were entirely stronger and heavier than before for a larger hauling capacity and durability.
Every year Chevy continued to improve on the engine performance and the comfort for the driver. It was in the Glamour pickup ear of 1967-1973 that Chevy made the major move from merely being a work truck to being a high-styled “personalized” pickup. This kicked off the craze of truck ownership for everyone.
Chevy continued to work towards what the needs of the consumer were demanding. In this modern era the push for a more environmentally friendly pickup began. The push for a hybrid vehicle that could keep up with the needs of power and hauling capacity began in 2003.
“GM is proud to be the first automaker to produce a hybrid propulsion system for a full-size pickup truck. We’re also proud to have delivered the first hybrid built in North America and the first hybrid that offers a 42 volt battery pack

Ford Ranger: The small pickup had been scheduled to die, but now Ford is considering extending Ranger output by as much as two years. The automaker had been expected to end Ranger production in fall 2009 when it planned to close its assembly plant in St. Paul, Minn.
What may give the Ranger new life is the relatively high mpg capability stemming from the standard four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission.
Ford may keep making the aging Ranger into the 2011 calendar year. While it’s unlikely that Ford would invest in any significant update in the truck, changes may be made to comply with federal rollover mandates.
Ford eventually could replace the Ranger with a small pickup developed on a new global architecture Ford of Australia is developing, called T6.
Ford F-100 trucks: Ford is developing a smaller version of its flagship F-series pickup. The new pickup trucks, code-named P525, could be called F-100; it is scheduled to go into production in mid-2011 for the 2012 model year.
The pickup is based on a lighter version of the F-150 chassis and would share front-end sheet metal with the next-generation Expedition, if that vehicle is produced. The F-100 would be offered in a crew-cab model only.
The trade-off for the lighter frame is reduced capability. The F-100 is aimed at buyers who want a pickup but do not need to tow 10,000-plus pounds or carry 3,000-pound loads.
A performance version of the F-100 that tops 400 hp is a possibility.
Ford F-150 trucks: Talk about bad timing. Ford is launching the 2009 re-engineered, restyled F-150 in a terrible market for pickups. The 2008 models stacked up at dealerships as gasoline prices rose.
The inventory overload and drop in demand caused Ford truck to push back the on-sale date of the 2009 truck by two months and eliminate two shifts of production. The 2009 F-150 now is expected to go on sale in late fall. Ford plans to build more basic work trucks and fewer high-end models.
The 2009 F-150 has an all-V-8 engine strategy. Ford has dropped a base V-6 for now. Executives say a turbocharged V-6, part of Ford’s 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine family, will be added in 2010. The three engines for the 2009 model are a 5.4-liter, three-valve V-8; a 4.6-liter, three-valve V-8; and a 4.6-liter, two-valve V-8. They are paired with a four-speed automatic or a new six-speed automatic transmission.
Ford F-series Super Duty trucks: A freshened Super Duty is expected for the 2011 model year.

Old Dodge trucks can be found for sale but they are not as numerous as Ford trucks for sale or Chevy trucks for sale. One of the reasons is that, although Chrysler used to sell their trucks as Dodges or Plymouths or Fargos they were made in far less number then Fords and Chevys.
Another problem for the lovers of classic Dodge trucks is the fact that there aren’t many dealers of parts for these classic pickups. But you can find lots of other people who love old Dodge pickup trucks and some dealers who can supply you with new and used parts for them. Here we will be helping you to find some of these dealers.
In some rare cases of older models you will have to look for a mechanic or a machine shop where you can have parts made to order, but that’s not the end of the world if you want to do a good restoration of your old Dodge.
Chrysler has an important manufacturing plant in Windsor, Canada, just across the river from Detroit and that plant used to be the main assembler of Fargo trucks up until 1972. The Fargo Motor Company began in the United States in 1913 long before the brand became a part of Chrysler.
As for Plymouth trucks they were first produced by Chrysler around 1928 and lasted until 1972 although the Plymouth Arrow truck, the last one to carry the Plymouth badge, was really made in Japan by Mitsubishi. Today you can’t buy a new Plymouth anymore, either car or truck because the brand ceased to exist in 2001.
There are lots of people who love old Dodge trucks as well as some beautifully restored Dodge pickups. With Fargo and classic Plymouth trucks the story isn’t the same and its very hard to see one of those in good condition today. If they exist they are the most expensive of the bunch.
Dodge Army trucks were some of the best the United States sent all over the world during WWII and they are being used today in transportation and also in recreational activities.
Although it will be very hard to locate some models of classic Dodge pickups you may be lucky and find the truck you want among old dodge trucks for sale. When it comes to classic trucks we are firm believers in patience and we will always recommend that you don’t get too excited in your hopes of finding the exact model of old Dodge truck you want in the condition you want. Look and look again and your efforts may be rewarded with a great find.
Even if the truck you find needs restoration it may be a good deal and a good investment. In fact, unlike modern trucks that loose more than half their value in four or five years, classic trucks become more valuable every year. They don’t make trucks like that anymore.

The word ‘truck’ is believed to be a derivative of Greek word – “trochos” which takes the meaning of a wheel. Lorry is yet another term used in this conjunction in United Kingdom whereas wagons with large wheels are known as trucks in North America. Pickup trucks, semi trucks, GMC trucks are the variants that are available. In countries like New Zealand and Australia a small vehicle with open back is known as ‘ute’ (abbreviated form of ‘utility vehicle’) or also known as pick-up. In the US only large vehicles used in commercial purposes are called as trucks.
The various important parts of the truck are the Engine, the Drive train and the frame.
Engine: An Engine forms the most important part of a truck as it decides the running capability of a truck and has to be carefully chosen to match the application for which the truck is intended to be used. Gasoline engines are generally used by small trucks like the pickups or SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles) and also by the medium-duty trucks. However heavier trucks generally use four stroke turbo intercooler diesel engines and highway trucks employ locomotive-type engines which are either two-stroke or a V12 Detroit diesel engine. Most of the truck manufacturers in North America outsource the engine, whereas companies like Volvo and Mack Trucks use their own engines. Euro 5 regulations are complied with by all the truck engines in European nations in the interest of the environment.
Drive Train: Light duty trucks use transmission method similar to that of the cars which are either automatic or manual with synchornisers. Heavier trucks however use manual transmission without synchroniser that is less bulky. Crash boxes (transmissions without synchronizers) have a requirement of employing double clutching for every shift, called as “floating”. Generally North American setups include 9,10,13,15 and 18 speed levels. Semi-automatic or fully automatic transmission system is generally preferred to reduce the fuel consumption. In European market the gears may be of 8, 10 and 12 in case of manual transmission while for automatic transmission it might range anywhere between 5-12 gears. The trucks generally have range shift pattern in the gear system.
Frame: Two parallel boxed rails held together by cross members are the main composites of the frame of a truck. They may also be called as ladder frames since they resemble that of a ladder when tipped on end. Crossmembers are mostly attached to frame rails by using rivets or bolts, but sometimes may be welded in case of heavy duty application. The material used to make frame is generally steel but aluminium can also be a substitute to it.
Although trucks contribute to some pollution, they eject fewer air polluting emissions when compared to a car or any other vehicle, but still it contributes to a high level of sound pollution.

The need to pick the right vehicle is multiplied when you are an owner-operator, and repair money, as well as fuel money comes out of your own pocket or profit. Here we examine the best heavy duty trucks in Hong Kong, according to customer satisfaction and other features.

Several factors of these trucks for sale in Hong Kong are measured, including engine quality, engine performance, cost of ownership, and warranty.
Mercedes Benz vehicles have ranked highest among the manufacturers in satisfying their customers in this latest edition of the study.
The engines Daimler trucks of North America are supplied by Mercedes Benz. These engines received an index score of 760 on a 1000 point scale, with the second and third ranked engines as Cummins and Mack engines. Cummins engines scored 733 on the scale for heavy duty trucks in Hong Kong, while Mack, one of the biggest names, received 727 out of 1000.
The study new trucks for sale in Hong Kong was quite large, collating the responses of 2,692 primary maintainers of Class 8 trucks that were around 2 years old. Dump trucks, garbage trucks and concrete mixers were included in the study.

However, Kenworth is a brand of heavy duty truck in Hong Kong that has also consistently satisfied customers. An innovative swing out staircase in the Freightliner Argosy cabin gives the comfort and useability scores a boost.

As a Ford truck enthusiast you should know that this is one icon starring the long list of American legends that the world at large has always associated with their perception of US. The Ford Motor Company launched their first full size pick up truck for sale popularly known as the Ford Truck almost five decades ago. The first generation trucks were launched during the period 1948 to 1952 and they came as full body with one-piece windshield that distinctly looked flat.
The headlights were integrated into the body and the truck had the See-Clear windshield washer that used to be operated with a foot paddle. It also had those windshield wiper & sun visor on the passenger windows apart from the taillights. The Ford Company used to call their range of trucks the F Series with Ford Truck Enthusiast.
So far the most popular trucks for sale in the series came out in Ford F-150 truck. The F Series makes up for almost fifty percent of the companys profit as the company started manufacturing another version of F-150 and named it F-250/350 with some additional features incorporated in it. These fantastic trucks were high in public demand and in fact the patrons of this truck formed a club called Ford truck enthusiast.
As a Ford truck enthusiasts when you browse the history of the vehicle you know that till 1959 all trucks in the F-series were produced with Marmon-Herrington All Wheel Drive. In 1951 and 1952, little changes were incorporated with headlights getting connected in aerodynamic crosspiece. The trucks were redesigned and re-launched in 1957 and by this time it came out with a hood that was composite with the fenders and a new chrome grille. At the back of the truck the body was renamed as flare side and designed to have a smooth look.
Again in 1961 the truck was given a new look. It became much wider and was redesigned as a single body full truck with an integrated cab and box. Now 200 hp engines were integrated and in 1965, the front suspension with Twin I-Beam was introduced along with the coil springs. Both 1965 and 1966 trucks came with a TWIN I-BEAM logo on the front fender with Ranger models were first launched in 1965 with stylish designs with Ford truck enthusiast.
They were primarily released as a part of the F Series. Around 1981 Ranger was re launched as a series of Fords compact series truck. The Ford truck enthusiast received all these features with much fanfare.
In 1973 the Ford Motor Car Company introduced F350 SRW pickup trucks. These were promoted as the new heavy-duty pickup trucks. These were primarily targeted to the segment of contractors and people who love camping. In 1976, the F-series won the title of best-selling trucks of America and continued to win it till date; at the same time it also needs to be mentioned here that the Ford truck enthusiast is a major admirer of this fantastic vehicle known as the Ford truck.

Classic trucks can have their ride greatly improved with the replacement of the original front end with a modern independent front end. This is something that can be done with almost any brand of classic car or old truck.
The main reason for the installation of an independent front suspension on your old truck is to improve the quality of the ride but it can also be done in order to lower the suspension and give the old truck a totally different look. Depending on the type of front end you choose, your old truck will also have a wider stance.
Depending on the brand and model of your old truck you can choose between several types of front ends. For Chevy trucks made betwen 1947 and 1955 one of the easiest ways is to get the front end of the C10 series Chevy trucks made between 1973 and 1987. The assembly unbolts and comes down complete and can then be bolted to the frame of the old Chevy truck. The whole steering assembly can also be installed to the old truck. This type of suspension is very rugged, has disc brakes and will last forever on classic trucks. But beware: although this is a relatively easy adaptation it can’t be done by an amateur. You will have to take careful measurements of the two frames even before you remove the suspension from the donor C10 truck, especially the steering components if you want to do a good job.
Another type of suspension which has been used in both old Ford truck and old Chevy trucks used to be found in the old AMC Pacer automobile of the late 1970s. This type of suspension also has the advantage of being a complete unit that you can unbolt from the donor car and bolt to the frame of the old truck. A kit for this adaptation is available for sale at many old truck part companies. Among the advantages of this type of suspension is the fact that it comes with front disc brakes and rack-and-pinion steering. The installation of the Pacer suspension is easier to do then the installation of the C10 suspension, but there are a few problems here too. First, it is very difficult to find a Pacer suspension nowadays. The car went out of production well over two decades ago and it wasn’t produced in large quantities to begin with. And even if you find one of these suspensions it will be difficult to get the bushings and other components you’ll need to rebuild it.
Another option to improve the ride of classic trucks is to install a modern IFS system produced specifically for your brand and model of old truck. There are several companies that do this and their systems are the best you can find, with disc brakes, rack-and-pinion power steering and coilover springs. They are the best and they are also the most expensive. Their prices start a little over US$ 1,000 and go all the up to almost US$ 3,000. But if you can afford one of these you’ll be rewarded with the best type of independent front suspension available.
The Mustang II type of independent front suspension is also a great option for old trucks. You can either find a Ford Mustang II and use its suspension or buy this type of front end ready to install in your old truck. It is one of the strongest you can get and the quality of the ride will make you feel you’re driving a car.

The trailer posses so many advantages as an auxiliary vehicle that it is coming into use rapidly, particularly in the central and far western states, where industry and commerce are less conservative than in the east. Those who have adopted equipment trailers find that they double their hauling capacity of their trucks, greatly reduce waiting time of trucks and drivers, and increase the earnings or cur down the ton-mile operating cost materially.
As an industry, the manufacture of trailers dates back only half a dozen years, but it has grown rapidly until today there are seventy-five or more trailer manufacturers in the country, and several are exporting to foreign countries.
Trailers for sale are made in a wide variety of types and capacities for all sorts of purposes, ranging from the little pneumatic tired two-wheel trailer of 500 pounds capacity, to be attached behind runabouts and touring cars, to ten-ton and fifteen-ton trailers and semi-trailers, hauled by powerful tractors and motor trucks. These include car haulers, dump trailers, utility trailers, equipment trailers, gooseneck trailer etc. Size is one of the main considerations while looking for a trailer. The maximum towing capacity and maximum tongue weight of your tow vehicle are limiting factors.
By use of trailers and car haulers, many hauling jobs can be done that would be impossible with trucks alone, as for example – the handling object too heavy, too big or too long to be loaded on the truck. Weights of ten to twenty tons and more are divided between truck and trailer so that neither is overloaded and the weight is distributed over six or eight wheels instead of being concentrated on four.
Tow trucks are expensive, especially if the distance is great. A utility trailer is a great way to haul vehicles and a good investment if you need to do so regularly. Packing equipment and loading it into a pickup truck bed can get old very quickly. A utility trailer will allow you to drive your equipment right up onto the trailer without the aid of ramps or two strong men. Utility trailers are great for hauling appliances, live stock and recreational vehicles.
Open utility trailers are well suited for many applications including small landscaping businesses that are just starting out and need a way to haul their landscape equipment. As their business grows and they decide to move up to an enclosed trailer, the open utility trailer will still be incredibly useful for hauling all sorts of material such as mulch, rock and plants.
The use of dump trailers has been gaining in popularity as one of the most cost effective means for handling tear-off removal. Licensing fees, insurance costs and maintenance expenses associated with a dump truck are astronomical in most parts of the country. The use of dump trailers is a more cost effective and more versatile method for handling tear-off debris.
Dump trailers can be utilized for other practical purposes as well. Use it to haul equipment and material to and from various job sites. Their crews bring job site debris back to the yard at the end of each day. When the trailer is full, they just hook it up to their truck and take it to the dump.
